Jelgava
How to Reach
Jelgava has a very advantageous geographical location. It has railway point of intersection where rail gauge cross in East – West and North-South directions. Alongside city border is stretched modern bypass built in 1996, connecting motorways Jelgava – Riga and Jelgava – Lithuanian border, and further leads to the Western Europe.
From Riga International airport
You can fly to Riga from all major cities in Europe. Jelgava is in distance of 47 km from Riga International Airport. At arrival you may choose direct transfer to the Riga International Bus Station or Riga Central Train Station by domestic bus or taxi.
From Riga port
Riga port is connected to Stockholm in Sweden by direct ferry line. Jelgava is in distance of 46 km from Riga port. At arrival you may choose direct transfer to the Riga International Bus Station or Riga Central Train Station by taxi or may walk. Walking distance is about 30 min passing Rigas’s old city centre.
From Riga International Bus Station
There is a choice of international bus lines connecting Riga with Denmark, France, Germany, Norway, Poland, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Belarus, Estonia and Lithuania.
In the Riga International Bus Station you can choose direct bus to Jelgava. It will take you 55 min for 1,50 LVL to reach Jelgava.
From Riga Central Train Station
Overnight trains with sleeper carriages link Riga with St. Petersburg and Moscow.
In the Riga Central Train Station you can choose direct electric train to Jelgava. It will take you 50 min for 1,35 LVL (+0,41 LVL for luggage) to reach Jelgava.
By Car
To reach Jelgava from Riga centre you may choose Salu Bridge to cross river Daugava, then turn left to Vienibas gatve, go along A8 aprox. 20 km, turn right to P100 (Ozolnieki), continue along P100 and after you cross Lielupe Bridge turn right to the Jelgava palace. It may take you up to 50 min to come from Riga center to Jelgava by car.
By Taxi
For aprox. 27 LVL in up to 60 min you can reach Jelgava from all major traffic points of Riga.
